5 tips to care for your mirror

1. Keep It Dust-Free
Dust may seem harmless, but over time it can dull the surface of your mirror. Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth once a week to gently wipe away dust. Avoid using paper towels or rough cloths, which can scratch the glass.
2. Choose the Right Cleaner
Skip the ammonia-based cleaners—they can damage the mirror’s backing and cause it to deteriorate over time. Instead, mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle or use a designated glass cleaner formulated without harsh chemicals. Spray the cleaner onto a cloth, not directly onto the mirror, to avoid streaks and moisture buildup at the edges.
3. Wipe in a Zigzag Motion
For a streak-free finish, wipe your mirror in a gentle zigzag or "S" motion from top to bottom using a microfiber cloth. This helps catch every smudge without pushing dirt around.
4. Watch the Edges
The edge of your mirror—especially if it’s frameless—is where moisture can seep in and damage the silvering (the reflective layer behind the glass). Be careful not to soak the edges when cleaning. If you're cleaning a bathroom mirror, ensure your space is well-ventilated to reduce long-term moisture exposure.
5. Keep Decor Items Off the Surface
Placing candles, vases, or diffusers directly on your mirror (especially mirrored furniture) might look stylish, but wax drips, water rings, or chemical spills can etch or stain the surface. Use coasters or trays to add protection while still keeping your look curated.
Bonus Tip: Mount with Care
If your mirror is large or heavy, always follow manufacturer instructions for proper mounting. Anchoring it securely ensures not only your safety but also reduces the risk of hairline cracks caused by poor support.
